SINO-CANADIAN DUAL DIPLOMA CURRICULUM 


The dual program is for Chinese Students who are writing the Chinese National exam, receiving the Chinese diploma

and completing the requirements for the Nova Scotia High School diploma.


The recommended course load of Nova Scotia Public School Program (PSP) courses in the dual Diploma program is

19 courses.


(13 required courses; 5 Nova Scotia course electives and 1 Chinese credit Physical Education transfer as a minimum).


The following are the minimum course load requirements for the Nova Scotia Diploma –Dual Program:


- Grade 10 Students must register for a minimum of 5 Nova Scotia courses,

(3 courses in Semester 1 and 2 courses in Semester 2)


(This leaves space for 1 Chinese PE course and 1  Chinese course)


- Grade 11 Students must register for a minimum of 6 Nova Scotia courses,

(3 courses in Semester 1 and 3 courses in Semester 2).


(This leaves space for 2 Chinese courses)


- Grade 12 students must enroll in a minimum of 6 courses per year, 3 each semester.

Recommended: 20 weeks (70 minute classes) = 116 hours per credit


Required Courses: 18 credits are required to graduate, 13 of which are compulsory


The following 13 compulsory credits are required for graduation:


• 3 English Language Arts ---- English 10, 11, 12;


• 2 Mathematics ---- Math 10; Math 11;


• 2 Sciences (a “first science” credit and 1 other) ---- Science 10; Chemistry 11;


• 1 Fine Arts ---- Drama 10


• 1 Canadian History ---- Canadian History 11


• 2  other credits from Technology, Mathematics or Science ---- Physics 11; Chemistry 12;


• 1 Global Studies --- Global Geography 12;


• 1 Physical Education (Chinese Transfer Credit)


Course Guidelines:


• No more than 7 of the 18 credits may be from courses coded as Grade 10 and at least 5 must be from courses coded

as Grade 12.
